Willie McIntyre on CD
Willie McIntyre recorded only a handful of tracks in the 1940s and 1950s and not all of these are available on CD. The best source is The Lion Roars: Selected Recordings by Willie ‘The Lion’ McIntyre 1946-85, the companion CD to his biography. His other CD recordings are listed here but he doesn’t solo on some of the following tracks. There are some private tapes of his playing after the mid-1950s but these are not currently available.
Based on Jack Mitchell Australian Jazz on Record 2011; William H. Miller Recording Log; record details in the Australian Jazz Museum and National Film and Sound Archive, where many of these tracks are housed; and CD notes. Locations of recording sessions are Melbourne unless otherwise noted. Some recordings on cassette tape in private holdings have not been included.
